"Once I get to know a patient and understand their goals, we work together to create a treatment plan that best suits their lifestyle"

Dr Ehmke is a fellowship trained joint replacement surgeon specializing in minimally invasive robotic hip and knee replacement. He did his fellowship at the world renowned Rubin Institute of Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore, MD.
Dr Ehmke uses the latest techniques in joint replacement including robotic assisted joint replacement, the muscle sparing anterior approach to hip replacement, 3D printed custom knee replacements and outpatient joint replacements. These advanced techniques allow his patients to not only have a shorter recovery with less pain, but also give them a joint replacement that feels more natural.
In addition, Dr Ehmke has specialized training in evaluating and treating previous joint replacements that are painful. Dr Ehmke also does complicated joint replacement cases such as patients with prior surgery on their hip or knee, or born with unique anatomy.
Dr Ehmke also takes care of other conditions of the knee that may be done with an arthroscopic procedure, such as meniscus tears of the knee.
Dr Ehmke has published research and has presented it at national meetings. He has also served as faculty for national courses to teach residents how to do hip and knee replacements.

Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement
Mako robot partial and total knee replacements. Apple computer guided pressure sensors used to balance the knee in surgery. These new technologies done with a minimally invasive technique allows Dr. Ehmke to create a knee that functions better and allows a quicker recovery.
Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement
Muscle sparing minimally invasive anterior approach with intraoperative x-ray guidance. Minimally invasive posterior approach done with Mako robotic guidance. Dr Ehmke offers multiple advanced options for hip replacement depending on the patient's needs.
10-20% of people continue to have pain after joint replacement. Pain can be related to several reasons including wear, loosening, malposition of the implants, fracture and infection. Dr. Ehmke has extensive training in evaluating and treating these complex problems and may be able to offer solutions to relieve pain and restore functions
Want to skip the hospital stay altogether and recover in the comfort of your own home with visiting nurses and therapists? With modern advancements in minimally invasive techniques, this is a reality. Salt Creek Surgery Center is one of the few freestanding outpatient centers in the country to offer robotic joint replacements.
Stem Cell Injections
Before considering joint replacement, Dr. Ehmke uses the latest in conservative treatment. This includes multiple stem cell injection options tailored to each patient. These treatments can provide prolonged pain relief and increased mobility without the need for joint replacement.
Knee Arthrscopy and Joint Sparing Procedures
Not all joint pain needs to be treated with joint replacement. Dr. Ehmke also uses the latest in joint sparing techniques that can relieve pain such as knee arthroscopy to treat meniscus tears or subchondroplasty to treat bone marrow lesions. These outpatient procedures can get you back to being active with minimal downtime.
